Meet the skilled and compassionate technicians, receptionists, and assistants that make up the North Paws Team!
Nicole, a Hagerstown native, has spent her whole life in the animal industry. Getting her start as a teenager in a local pet store, she then started her technician career in 2001. She has worked as head technician for an exotic specialist as well as assistant practice manager in the past. She earned her Laboratory Animal Technician Certification from NIH in 2009. To be able to spend more time with her family she returned to general practice and has joined us as Practice Manager at North Paws. Nicole has and English Bulldog named Gemma, Husky named Fenrir, and a cat named Cookie.
Brittany Shadrach, RVT
Head Technician, Licensed Veterinary Technician
Brittany was born and raised in Hagerstown, MD. From a very young age, she knew that her life would be spent taking care of animals. After graduating from South Hagerstown High School, she graduated from Hagerstown Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Biology. She then completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Veterinary Medical Technology with a concentration in Biology at Wilson College. In 2011, Brittany started working in emergency vet medicine but after 6 years, she switched to day practice to continue learning and advancing her skills. Brittany resides in PA with her significant other, their 6 dogs and 3 cats.
Michelle Wilkinson, CVT
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Michelle grew up in NJ and moved to CO to attend Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology. She graduated in 2000. She has been licensed as a technician since in CO, AZ, PA and MD. She has been a resident of Waynesboro, PA for 11 years. She has an interest in client education, behavior, dentistry and exotic animal medicine. She has a Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier and a Panther Chameleon. When not at work, she will most likely be found at the ice rink cheering for her son and husband at their hockey games.
Paige Seilhamer, RVT
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Paige Seilhamer started at North Paws Animal Hospital as a summer intern in 2018 while she was attending Wilson College. Paige has now graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Medical Technology with a minor in Animal Studies and has passed her exam to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. She is excited to work at North Paws as a full time technician now. Paige has three dogs at home named Kaiya, Lana, Ryder and a large tank of goldfish. She has a special interest in exotic veterinary medicine and loves seeing the variety of small animals and birds that our doctors treat.
Crystal has been with NorthPaws since December 2019. Prior to NorthPaws, she worked at another local veterinary clinic for over 5 years. Growing up on a small farm, Crystal has loved animals her whole life! Currently she has 2 pitbulls, Garona and Mikasa; 2 poodles, Sweetie and Winry; and 3 cats, Dinky, Toast, and Cookie; as well as 4 human children. In her downtime, she enjoys crocheting, sewing, yoga, anime, and playing Heroes of the Storm.
Heather was born and raised in Martinsburg, WV and has been working in the veterinary industry for about 10 years. From an early age she knew she wanted to work in the vet world and she got her start at a small clinic in Ranson, WV working as an assistant. She moved on to be a receptionist at a veterinary emergency clinic. She is looking forward to getting back in to assisting and learning as much as she can to further her skills and knowledge. She currently lives in Hedgesviile, WV with her husband and their small zoo which includes dogs, cats, chickens, and goats.
Marissa lives in Smithsburg, MD and is a recent graduate from St. Mary’s College of Maryland with a degree in Biochemistry. She has always been passionate about working with animals and started at a young age traveling with a mobile veterinarian. She is excited to not only work with dogs and cats but exotic animals as well. Marissa lives at home with her two dogs, Peanut and Ember and her cat, Coco.
Marketing Manager and Lead Receptionist
Rachael is from Waynesboro, PA and is a graduate of Wilson College. She has been in the veterinary field for about 4 years and has a special interest in exotic animal care, orthopedic surgery, and rehab. She loves spending time at home with her 'zoo' which includes her 2 dogs, 3 cats, 2 ferrets, Conure, rabbit, gecko, tortoise, and chickens! When she's not at home she's probably hiking with her dogs Hannah and Piggy!
I am originally from PA, but have been lived in Florida, Mississippi, and Italy because of my husband's Navy career. I have worked in the veterinary industry as a receptionist and assistant for about 15 years. My husband recently retired from Navy, so we will be making Maryland our home base. I love working with animals and enjoy learning something new each day. When I am not at work, I am kept busy by my kids, as well as, my Pomeranians, Pebbles, Raina, Lucci, Kip, and Guppi; and my Yorkie, Leah.
Jessica McCarson, CVA, CWR
Veterinary Assistant and Receptionist
Jessica was born and raised in Ohio. She has had a strong passion for animals her entire life. She is a military spouse. In 2010 she became a Certified Veterinary Assistant (CVA), and in 2020 became a Certified International Wildlife Rehabilitator. (CWR) She has a strong interest in wildlife and exotic animal medicine. In her down time she enjoys riding her horses, photography, wood burning art, glass engraving, and spending time with her family. She has been riding horses for 27 years and in addition to her other certifications, she has also been certified in Equine Sports Massage Therapy since 2008.
